Professional Development Day

On Monday, September 10th, Webster City hosted a regional professional development day at Prem Sahai Auditorium and the new High School Addition.  Representatives or entire staffs from the following districts or agencies participated in the day:  Algona, Clarion-Goldfield, Dows, Eagle Grove, Northeast Hamilton, South Hamilton, Stratford, Webster City and Area Education Agency staff.

The focus for the day centered on the areas of Response to Intervention and Professional Learning Communities.  The purpose of the day was to expose district staffs to the latest in research and best practice related to the development of effective learning environments that improve the learning for all students.

The presenter for the day was Mike Mattos.  Mr. Mattos is an author and consultant who is recognized throughout North America for his work in Response to Intervention and Professional Learning Communities.  He is a former Principal of both Marjorie Veeh Elementary School and Pioneer Middle School in Tustin, California.  Both schools were recognized by the State of California and nationally for their student achievement results.
