Wilma Kersey Brown

Wilma Kersey Brown, daughter of Jess T. Kersey and Emma May Fortner Kersey was born October 2, 1930 in Des Moines, Iowa and passed from this life Friday, September 7, 2012 at Greater Regional Hospice Home at 81 years of age.

Wilma graduated from Urbandale High School in 1949 and also graduated from Open Bible Institute in Des Moines in 1953.

She was united in marriage to Leonard G. Brown September 3, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa. They became the parents of a daughter, Linda and a son, Tom. Wilma and her family made ther home in Runnels for many years before moving to Osceola in 1972.

In 1990, Wilma and Leonard became members of Mission America Placement Service R.V. Volunteer with Assembly of God for three winters (1990-1992) at Latin American Bible Institute in San Antonio, Texas; where her husband passed away in 1992. Wilma returned to the Latin American Bible Institute in January 1993 and worked until the spring of 1993. In 1996, Wilma went on a two week work and witness team to South Africa. Wilma accepted the Lord as her Savior at the age of thirteen and was a member of the LifePoint Assembly of God.

Those relatives who preceded Wilma in death were her parents; husband, Leonard George Brown, son, Tom Brown; brothers, Marvin, Wilbur, Howard and Earl Kersey, sisters, Iris Royce; Mildred Weed; Martha Goff, Maxine Kelderman and son-in-law, Dick Herweh.

Wilma leaves to cherish her memory; daughter, Linda Oshel and Fiance Rod Thompson of Orient, IA, step-daughter, Peggy Herweh of Pleasant Hill, IA, step-daughter, Ellen Bayte and husband Jim of Des Moines, IA, grandchildren, Jeanne (Chad) Sprague of Creston, IA and Mike Oshel and Fiance Nichole Ott of Creston, IA, sister, Irene Wilson and husband Don of Indianola, IA, great-grandchildren, Malorie and Masyn Oshel, step-great grandchildren, Kaylee and Keara Ott, as well as several other step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
