Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” Corinthians 13:4-7
The Bible says many things about marriage. But actually living it can, at times, prove to be one of life’s most challenging tasks. That’s why St. John’s Parish welcomes couples to join its members and its leaders at the next Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend, which takes place Oct. 27 – 29, in Ankeny.
The church encourages couples to discover more ways to open their marriage to God’s plan. Register or contact Roger and Marsha Luensmann at (563) 927-4352 for more information. Other resources include the church website at www.iowa-wwme.org, or visit the church at 24043 302nd Place.
A second adult Sunday morning Bible study is coming to Faith Lutheran Church. Starting
Sept. 9, David Severidt, will be leading a 10-week Bible study focusing on “Aging in the Grace of God.” This Bible study session is directed toward worshippers wanting to learn how to embrace the last third of their life as a time to become closer to God.
“Whether you currently qualify for ‘senior discounts’ or are just getting close, this study will allow time to share unique stories and answer prayers with others,” according to the church newsletter. For more information regarding registration or church activities, visit the church website at www.faithadel.com, or stop in at 106 S. 14th St.
Although it’s too late to catch the groundbreaking of the new Grace Lutheran, which took place April 25, the new building is slated to have its grand opening and dedication in later. Tours of the building site are conducted after worship or by request. In other news at the current church location, confirmation and Christian education classes begin Sept. 5. For information regarding confirmation dates and other church announcements, visit the church website at www.gracelutheranadel.com, or stop by the church at 23932 Meadow Road.Spread the Word
