Wine, cheese and displays from local artists will be featured at a special fundraiser set for Sunday, Sept. 16 from 4 – 7 pm.
Aptly named “Art in the Barn,” the event will be held at the Simpson Barn at 6169 Northglenn Drive just west of the Johnston Public Library. Hy-Vee will cater the wine and cheese tasting. The Jefferson Oatts Trio will add to the lively atmosphere while attendees browse through the art displays of a number of local artists. Tickets are $20 per person and may be purchased in advance at the Johnston Public Library.
“Smartest Card” and Tell-a-Neighbor Campaigns
The Johnston Public Library set a goal this year to increase the number of Johnston residents (ages 5 and above) who are Johnston Public Library cardholders. During September and October, we are joining the rest of the country in participating in the “Smartest Card” campaign — since your library card can be considered the “smartest card” in your wallet. There will be an incentive for library users who renew or obtain a Johnston card for the first time. The incentive will be an opportunity to be eligible for a drawing for a $50 gift certificate to a Johnston business.
Our regular users won’t be left out. We are also offering an incentive for referrals. If a new cardholder lets us know that you encouraged him or her to get a card, you will also be eligible for a separate drawing for a $50 gift certificate to a Johnston business. Be sure to tell a neighbor about the great resources that can be found at the Johnston Public Library.
