The air was filled with great spirit on Friday, August 24th as the Clear Lake Lions faced off with the Mason City Mohawks on the gridiron for the first tme in 82 years. More than 6000 fans packed Mohawk Stadium. The Clear Lake community came out in full force and created a “WHITE OUT” with their sea of white shirts in the visitor stands. Mohawk fans were “RED OUT” all the way. Our Clear Lake students also created a special shirt for the event that said “GO LIONS BEAT CITY” and that is what happened. At the end of the half the score was Lions = 0 and Mohawks = 0, but by the end of the game the Lions bested the Mohawks and took home the victory. It was truly a GREAT NIGHT FOR NORTH IOWA and we are all looking forward to next year’s meeting at Lions Field! Go Lions!
