The summer reading program this year was a huge hit. There were 214 children registered for the two-month-long reading extravaganza. A hundred-and-ten children completed the reading requirement of logging in 10 hours of reading time. Altogether the participants read a whopping 1,650 hours. The grand finale was a bowling party held at Adams Bowl in Centerville. Eighty-five people attended for an afternoon of bowling, snacks, prize give-aways and a great time. Local businesses and The Friends of the Drake Public Library group funded the entire program.

Joining the library is free for residents of Appanoose County. Stop in and sign up for a library card today.
