Celebration Sunday will kick off the program year on Sept. 9 with a 9 a.m. worship service followed by good food and fun at Grace Lutheran Church, 3010 52nd St.
Thanks to the Social Ministry Committee, which will be serving the meal and dessert, church leaders have faith this social event will be a huge success to ring in the fall season, showing appreciation for longtime parishioners and welcoming new members.
But remember, many hands make light work, and Grace still needs committees to help with setting up and decorating, managing fun activities and cleaning up afterward. Anyone who can help should contact Stephanie Johnson.
All are also welcome to Super Wednesdays at Grace, which will start on Sept. 12. Schedule details will be available online at www.gracedm.org, in the newsletter or call the church for more information at (515) 276-6873.
Starting in September, book lovers are invited to join in the Westminster Presbyterian Church book club, as they journey into a new novel, “The Quickening,” by Michelle Hoover. In her debut novel, Hoover explores the polarization of the human soul in times of hardship.
The Westminster Book Club will meet Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 6:30 p.m. in the Lounge at 4114 Allison Ave. All are welcome to join. For more information, contact Jan Davison at (515) 274-1534, or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Seventh grade children interested in being confirmed are invited to attend a Confirmation Dessert meeting at New Hope United Methodist Church on Wednesday, Aug. 29, at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, 4525 Beaver Ave. This informational meeting is for students and their parents or families. The meeting involves taking a brief look at the Confirmation year schedule and a discussion about what to expect. An ice cream dessert will be served.
