It’s the most important card in your pocket! What card? Your library card, of course. Stop by your Waukee Public Library during September to take advantage of these offers:
• New library patrons will receive a complementary book bag.
• Replace your lost library card free (a $1 savings).
• Each nonperishable food item will reduce your fine by $1.

Children’s programs begin Sept. 10
Lego Club. Legos!  Legos!  Legos! All ages are invited to stop by Waukee Public Library at 950 Warrior Lane and build fabulous creations with WPL’s Legos.  Saturday, Sept. 15, 1:30 – 3 pm.

 Family Movie. Bring the whole family to Waukee Public Library for our family movie, “Tangled”. Popcorn provided, please bring your own drink.  Saturday, Sept. 22, 1 p.m.

 Babies and Books. For pre-walkers with a caregiver. Songs, books and rhymes. Monday, 10 a.m.

Mother Goose on the Loose/Toddlertime. For toddlers up to 3 years with a caregiver. Songs, fingerplays and read-aloud stories, followed by playtime. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays, 10 a.m.

Playful Preschoolers. For children 3 to 6. Read-aloud stories, songs and rhymes followed by a craft. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. and Tuesdays, 2 p.m.

Pajamatime. For all ages. Bring your teddy and wear your jammies. Bedtime stories, songs, rhymes and a craft. Thursdays, 6:45 p.m.

Seniors Sharing Stories
Iowa author and educator Joe Millard will facilitate this program for seniors to share stories and memories. Feel free to bring pictures, music or memorabilia to share. Monday, Sept. 10, 1:30 p.m.

Book Discussion
There’s always room for you at WPL’s book discussion group. September’s book is “Blue Nights” by Joan Didion. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 1 p.m.

Waukee History
Do you have Waukee historical items or artifacts? The library is collecting items to display in the new Ori addition. For more information stop by the library or call Director Erik Surber at 987-1280.

September hours
The library will be closed Monday, Sept. 3 for Labor Day. Sunday hours, 1 -4 p.m. resume Sept. 9.

Staff in-service
Your library is closed the fourth Friday morning of each month for staff training.  The library will open at 12:30 pm on Friday, Sept. 28.
