Norwalk facilities rank among the finest in Iowa.  Within the last five years, new construction has occurred at our elementary schools and secondary schools including; a new gymnasium, new classrooms and technology labs,  a new cafeterias, connecting hallways, a new stadium, parking lots, tennis courts, a 900-seat auditorium and other amenities.  Attractive green-space gives each campus a vibrant feeling.  Cameras, locked entrances and a police liaison officer add to the safe environment for students and families.

Our activities programs are renown throughout Iowa.   Over the last seven years, State Championships  in girl’s basketball, baseball, softball and soccer added gold to our trophy cases.  Iowa Hall of fame coaches Dave Mineart, Joe McFarland and Brent Walker spent most of their coaching careers in Norwalk creating a strong foundation for today’s success.  Representative of this athletic success, Norwalk high school star and Pittsburg Pirate Joel Hanrahan has pitched in two All-Star games.   Our outstanding fine arts department features award-winning band, choral and drama departments.  In addition to stellar contest performances, plays, and dance competitions, Norwalk fine arts produces internationally known celebrities like Brandon Routh (Superman), Diana Reed (finalist Miss America pageant), and Jason Mamoa (Conan the Barbarian).

Norwalk Schools also work diligently with other government entities, churches and our Chamber of Commerce to create an environment which Bloomberg/Business Week named “Iowa’s Most Affordable Suburb”.   The award measured the quality of life in all Iowa suburbs.  Our positive working relationships have much to do with this designation.    American also recognizes Norwalk Schools as one of the most efficiently managed school districts in Iowa.

Finally, and most significantly, Norwalk boasts a family-friendly atmosphere that supports their schools and teachers.   Volunteers in programs like WatchDogs are found in our classrooms and hallways.  Booster clubs and a Norwalk Student Education Foundation volunteer countless hours and resources to Norwalk students.    The dedication of our students create a high performing student body where all core areas in the high school exceed ninety percent proficiency on statewide standardized tests, score above average on college entrance exams and rank among the top twenty Iowa schools in students taking the Advanced Placement exams.

So, welcome back to our family.  We hope you honor the high bar which stands before us.   Join us as we dedicate ourselves to hard work and positive spirit…’s the “Warrior Way”.
