The staff of the Johnston Public Library send their good wishes as students head back to school this week. We want to congratulate all the young people – from pre-readers through teens – who participated in the library’s summer reading clubs. More than 1,400 youth signed up to keep reading over the summer during the time that school was out.
Our theme this year was “Dream Big.” In addition to the reading clubs where kids kept track of their progress over the summer, the library offered programs that were both educational and entertaining. Examples included a writing program for school-aged students, a Mad Science rocket launch, and a bio-science class entitled “Dream Big with Plants” that offered hands-on learning.
All in all, it was a great summer here at the library! And now that school is starting, don’t forget that the Johnston Public Library has helpful resources for your homework assignments, too!
