Nila Lucille Clemens, age 84, of Boone, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home.
According to her wishes, Nila was cremated. There will be no visitation.
A private interment of her cremains will be at the Boone Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Nila was born June 8, 1928, in Bradgate, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph Henry and Florence (Enfield) Saunders.
The family moved to Ogden, where Nila attended school and graduated from Ogden High School in 1946.
On November 12, 1949, Nila was united in marriage to Jack Marlin Clemens at the United Methodist Church in Ames.
Nila held several jobs in Boone, including working for Dr. John Herman, the Boone County Hospital, and Heinrich Envelope. She later worked for Dr. Bernard Baldwin and Fareway Stores until her retirement in 1993.
Nila was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone.
She enjoyed bowling, and took special joy in vegetable gardening and spending time with her family and friends.
Nila also enjoyed listening to country and gospel music.
Nila is survived by one son, Marlin (Roxanne) Clemens of Ogden; one sister, Marjorie (Roger) Christenson of Fort Dodge; a brother Harley (Donna) Saunders of Ogden; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
Nila was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her parents; and two sisters, Genevieve (Franklin) Petrie and Kathryn (Ralph) Oleson Dennis.
